About Den Lille Dør

Den Lille Dør is an ambient/jazz/rock project founded by Andrea Sciusco that aims to create a live experience blending photo art, field recordings, music, and improvisation. Based on Andrea's photography, taken with an old analog camera around (mainly) Nordjylland, image sequences are assembled with music tailored for the band to play live while the images are displayed on a large screen.

The live experience includes field recordings of nature sounds from the direct source of the images—such as leaves, animals, and water—creating music with this specific place as its starting point. The result is a beautiful musical immersion in the relationship between community and loneliness, humans, God, and nature.

About Andrea Sciusco

Andrea Sciusco is a drummer and composer from Rome, Italy, trained in jazz drums at Siena Jazz University. He moved to Aalborg to complete his master's studies and has fallen deeply in love with Denmark's nature. Andrea has always composed cinematic music, and "Den Lille Dør" is meant as a restitution, as a big "thank you" to all the wonderful adventures that Nordjylland and its environments have given him so far.

He suffers from two diseases in his wrists, which prevent him from playing drums in a conventional, technical way: this forced him to invent a new approach to his instrument and to explore new horizons and boundaries of art.

Every photo you see has been hand-taken by my faithful old cameras while exploring the world. Click on each to read more information about locations and thoughts on the frames. As of now I shoot with: an old Pentax KX (Ashi) with an SMC 1:1.7/50mm, a 1959 Agfa Silette (Sille) with Pronto Apotar 1:2.8/45mm, a Canon F1 (Freya) with an FD 1:1.4/50mm, a Canon FT QL (Fiona) with her FL 1:1.8/50mm and a Nikon F4 (Kaiya) with am old (and gorgeous) Pancake 1:1.8/50mm lens. The color film used are: Kodak Gold 200, Fujifilm 400 and Fujifilm 200, while the black and white one is AGFA Apx100.
